Five minutes with Caddie Robinson of The Beauty & Wellness Hub
EVERYONE IN BUSINESS KNOWS THE INITIAL LEAP THAT IT TOOK TO GET THERE.
For many people, this leap was fuelled by a lot of sleepless nights, budget crunching and self-doubt. But one Canberra businesswoman has committed to helping those just starting out in the beauty and wellness industry.
Caddie Robinson of Bruce’s Le Beaute Lounge explains that by inviting beauty and wellness start-ups to share her space at The Beauty & Wellness Hub, new businesses can minimise overhead costs (and therefore risk) and, most importantly, surround themselves with likeminded professionals and mentors.
For Caddie, it’s a win-win, giving new business owners the chance to be a part of a thriving community and the possibility of supporting Canberra’s budding entrepreneurs. We caught up with Caddie to discuss her unique business model and her plans for the future.
WHAT INSPIRED YOU TO CREATE THE BEAUTY & WELLNESS HUB?
I’ve been in business 10 years this year and over these years I have met many therapists who a lot of, have dream of owning their own business. I know first hand how hard and risky it is to start a business from scratch.
I was inspired to create The Beauty & Wellness Hub to allow other professionals the opportunity to become their own boss without the stress or financial burden of opening an entire clinic or salon.
I love to help people and get a lot of pleasure out of doing what I can to help them achieve their goals.
WHERE WOULD YOU LIKE TO SEE THE BEAUTY AND WELLNESS HUB IN FIVE YEARS?
In five years, I’d love to have a second Hub, probably over the southside of town and to have helped a small collection of entrepreneurs to start, build and grow their business from within The Beauty & Wellness Hub.
Seeing others succeed while working alongside other like-minded professionals to open up networking channels and knowing I helped them take the first step in business would be very rewarding for me. I never aim to be the biggest in business, I believe in maintaining a smaller collection to keep it personalised and maintain quality.
HOW DID YOU GET YOUR START IN THE BEAUTY AND WELLNESS INDUSTRY?
Growing up, my parents owned their own business. They were my biggest inspiration and support, they have helped me throughout my whole career. I moved to Canberra when I was 17 to start my beauty therapy diploma and was awarded student of the year.
I landed a great job at a lovely new day spa in town, I felt on top of the world. I got to work in a beautiful place and make people feel great all day long. As my career evolved I loved that I got to make people feel good but I wanted to do it with better results and high-performance products so they not only felt good but look good too!
I had three main goals for my business;
I wanted to create an environment of my own where my staff would enjoy coming to as much as my clients did. We spend so many hours at work I wanted everyone to be happy and comfortable in their working environment.Perform results-driven treatments with a relaxing twist to them. Everyone is time-poor these days so offering our clients treatments to address their skin concerns while they take a little time out to relax and unwind is our way to add a little something extra to our treatments.Do what I love for as long as I love to do it for. I have always been passionate about the beauty industry and the wellness side of it works hand in hand with addressing skin concerns and general health. If we feel good, we look good and our bodies function the way they should if we are out of balance in any way we notice it all over.
In 2009 I came across a lovely new complex in Bruce and thought, “I’m going to open a salon here”, so I did. I was 24 at the time.
I’ve now been in the beauty industry for 17+ years and a business owner for over 10 years and I still love what I do. Over the years in business, I have met a lot of therapists who have dreamt of owning their own business but for a lot of them, it is out of reach for, whether it be for financial reasons or not having the support and encouragement. This is where my idea for The Beauty & Wellness Hub came from.
If I didn’t have my parents support and their background in business, I would not be where I am today.
The Beauty & Wellness Hub allows me to offer other passionate professionals a similar start in running their own business and the ability to network with others sharing a similar interest without the financial strain or stress of opening an entire clinic.

I have so many favourites.
Our DMK Muscle banding and Skin Needling would have to be my pick.
I am usually the one who is time-poor so I need to utilise my time with the most effective treatments possible. The girls do a lovely hand and arm, and foot and leg massage while the mask is on which is amazing!
With the added ‘extras’ we offer to give our treatments that relaxing twist means you still feel refreshed at the end. It’s a win, win really! Results and relaxation
FAVOURITE CANBERRA CAFÉ?
There are so many! Local Press Kingston foreshore, Praga Cafe Dickson and Biginelli’s Kambah just to name a few.
